TVN’s & Netflix KDrama “Our Blues” ended this past weekend and the series finale recorded the highest ever nationwide viewership ratings of 14.6%, the series has ever had. The K-Drama had a stellar cast of “Lee Byung Hun (last seen in Squid Game, Mr. Sunshine, I Saw The Devil)” & Shin Min Ah (last seen in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) which told the interconnected stories of a diverse group of people living in Jeju Island.

The drama was pitched as an omnibus (or omnibus edition) style drama which is a compilation of several television or radio episodes into a single installment. The drama had a run of 20 episodes and the first episode aired on 9th April 2022.

Our Blues is a mixture of genres because it follows different interconnected stories but some of those genres are Romance, Melodrama, Comedy, and Family and the emotions attached to the drama are even more, such as sadness, lethargy, apathy, longing, resignation, desperation.

One can say, the drama mirrors life in the purest form there is. The drama has been written by Noh Hee-Kyung (The Most Beautiful Goodbye & The Beauty Inside) and directed by Kim Kyu-Tae (A Love To Kill, Iris & Padam Padam).

The Drama because of its poignant yet effective plots turned out to be a winner among fans and upheld TVN’s reputation that most of the dramas that comes out of that production house are fireflies that shine bright on a dark night.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
