Nope Movie Review: Jordan Peele has come off as one of those directors that can incorporate Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller with a tincture of Comedy, and the end product would be a spectacle to watch.

He’s already done it twice with getting Out and Us and for his third directorial “Nope”, the expectations were quite high because he delivers, however, the film has gotten mixed reviews the hype NOPE had is not at all a waste because the film delivers great entertainment. Here’s our review of the film

Jordan Peele’s MO of casting a majority of Black Actors has again paid off but he’s also cast Steven Yeun and the actors have done their job nicely; the duo of Daniel Kaluyaa and Keke Palmer as a Rancher Brother-Sister was nice to see as Keke Palmer brought the charms and most of the comedy in the film while Daniel’s role was more like serious one since he’s the one taking care of the ranch after his father mysteriously dies.

Screenplay

The film has a runtime of a little over 2 hours and however it is a bit longer compared to the runtime of movies these days, I would say it’s not that long because the movie does not get you to leave you to you wander off, it keeps you interested.

So, the screenplay stands apt for the runtime it has. The story isn’t super complex to follow and Jordan has divided the film into sections of Animals that are there in the film which is a nice touch.

Cinematography

NOPE is definitely a visual spectacle because it deals with a UFO and well, who doesn’t like that if that is done beautifully and is appealing NOPE definitely has appealing UFOs. Not only that, the VFX is done very nicely and it holds up.

The creativity in designing the UFO seems legit because you would think of going for a UFO that is the norm, small tiny thin creatures with big heads and eyes but NOPE has a completely different concept, and its nice to see Jordan and his team doing something different and creative. They didn’t go for the whole alien abduction plot but also turned it around in a Predator-style touch.

Direction

I would say Jordan Peele has definitely brought us something that is unique and visually beautiful. Not only the actors have done their job nicely, Jordan again deserves praise for directing this film. He’s written, produced, and directed this film under his Productions which gave him complete freedom to do whatever he wants, and well, the Product is very good.

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

The film is definitely interesting and for people who want to watch something new, It has got a nice ring to it and the Music for the film is very good. The runtime is a bit long but it’ll keep you engaged. Go for it if you want to watch something new and who turns away a Jordan Peele flick?

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
