The previous week, Disney released its much-awaited animated film Lightyear based on the toy featured in the Toy Story Films, Buzz Lightyear and it’s sufficed to say that the film has failed to lift off or maybe it crashed something halfway? Maybe? Let’s take a look at what happened and is there any scope of the film may be getting what it’s worth at the box office.

The film features a great cast, including Chris Evans (Captain America) playing the role of Buzz Lightyear, Taika Waititi playing Mo Morrison, and James Brolin as Zurg. Directed by Angus MacLane who was the animator in A Bug’s Life, he has got a strong portfolio to back the film he’s directing. The film being Pixar’s first major release after March 2020, it still didn’t impress the audience.

The film also got banned from Muslim countries because the film has a brief kiss of a lesbian couple. The film is one of the biggest launches for an animated film, just months away from Minions: The Rise Of Gru. Disney has a big competition to compete with and the time doesn’t look good for them.

Backed by the Toy Story films, with Toy Story 3 and 4 crossing the 1 Billion Dollar mark individually, Lightyear was supposed to be a very big release from Disney Pixar. The film got a score of 77% from RottenTomatoes and critics have liked the film. Maybe the film is going to get a boom when it’s released on Disney+.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
