Kathputli (Cuttputlli) Review: A Thriller That Worth Your Time

Kathputli (Cuttputlli) Review: I watched Ratsasan a long ago and when I get to know that Akshay Kumar is making the film on the same story, I was somewhat excited about the Film. Hotstar’s original film was titled Cuttputlli and it was released today on Hotstar as a direct OTT release, here is a detailed review of the film.

The film stars Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sargun Mehta in the main lead roles. The film also stars Chandrachur Singh, Harshita Bhatt, and Gurpreet Guggi in crucial roles. The film is directed by Ranjit M Tewari and Produced by Pooja Entertainment. The film is around 2 Hours long and You can watch it with your Family, Avoid watching it with Kids as there are some disturbing and Brutal Killings in the film.

The Plot of the film starts in Kasauli (Himachal Pradesh), where Teenage Girls from school are Kidnapped and then Killed brutally. Police Inspector Arjan Shetty (Played By Akshay Kumar) along with his team starts an investigation of the case, While he investigates, The murders didn’t stop and the Killer was challenging the Cops and the system. will they ever be able to catch him? who was the killer and why he was doing so? To know this You have to watch the full movie on Hotstar.

Honestly speaking Akshay Should do this movie more often, He Killed it in the Character and for me, this was his best Performance in 2022. The character of Arjaan requires that intensity and it was in each and every frame. Akshay was way better in this film than in his previous Films. Rakul Preet Singh looks Pretty and she was good in the film too, Although her role was short yet she delivered it amazingly.

Sargun Mehta and Chandrachur Singh were one of the major highlights of the film, Chandrachur is back to the films and he is back with a bang, in his short yet strong role he was shining all over it, His emotional sequences were treated to watch. Sargun on the other hand looks brilliant too, She was fit for the role and she had nailed it compaletly.

Coming to the screenplay, The film was fast-paced and it never looks like a 2 Hour long film, The Climax was slightly down, but the overall storytelling was brilliant, Kudos to the director and screenplay writer they had delivered a great remake. The actions were brilliant and it gives realistic vibes.

The music was the weakest part of the film, The BGM was lacking that thrill, few songs were not needed at all, Specially that Romantic track, it looks like it was forced into the film. I would like to mention the VFX and Makeup artist’s work, Those killings were really really brutal and the Makeup artist has done an amazing job for sure.

I am going with 3 out of 5 stars for the film, If you haven’t seen the original film, You are going to love the film for sure, The film deserves your time and there is thrill and suspense in every bit of it. The film is around 2 Hours long and now available to watch on Hotstar.

Rating: 3/5
