Chainsaw Man Episode 1 Ending Explained: The Most-awaited anime of this year is here and it is electrifying! We’re talking about none other than “Chainsaw Man” which is probably the anime of the year (tough competition with Spy X Family, you know what I mean). The story of a devil hunter, we’ve probably seen before but a story so grounded is something new like a breath of fresh air.

The story revolves around Denji, who is an orphan whose father after hanging himself to death left Denji with a ton of debt from the Yakuza that he tries to clear now by killing devils after he’s sold his one eye, one kidney, and one of his testicles. He kills the devils with the help of his demon dog called Pochita who has a chainsaw on his head.

What makes Chainsaw Man grounded is the simplest of ambitions of Denji he just wants a normal life, to talk to a girl he likes, play video games with her and go to sleep hugging her. For that simplest of lives, he seems to be struggling and he’s betrayed by the Yakuza to kill him with a promise made to Pochita, even his demon dog understands the depth of his dreams and grants Denji his heart, and well he becomes a hybrid, not a human and not a devil something in between with a lever on his chest when pulled, transforms him into THE CHAINSAW MAN!

At the end of the Episode, we see Denji getting a hug from one of the devil hunters from Public Safety who had come to kill the Zombie Devils that Denji himself had slaughtered and offers him a place to live where he’ll be fed and a guy who just wants a normal life, it’s not a bad deal to agree with.

Chainsaw Man Episode 1 was the origin story of what Denji has done and what he is. What we’re going to see in the upcoming Episodes is who he meets and what he does.

Episode 2 of Chainsaw Man releases Tuesday, 18th October 2022.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
